How to disable Clipboard mapping at the Client

According to the Citrix Knowledgebase article CTX102977 you can disable Clipboard mapping at the Client by deleting the reference to the vdclip in the module.ini file. Note that the removal of this will disable the functionality for all users accessing a citrix server from that client. That is, the module.ini is global for all users on a particular machine.

While the article describes how to modify the module.ini file specifically you will need to delete the following section:

;** client and host applications (Not available for DOS)

DriverNameWin16 = VDCLIPW.DLL
DriverNameWin32 = VDCLIPN.DLL

Citrix CTX102977 states:

This document was published at: http://support.citrix.com/kb/entry.jspa?externalID=CTX102977

Document ID: CTX102977, Created on: Nov 13, 2003, Updated: Nov 18, 2003

Products: ICA Win32 Program Neighborhood Client

Symptoms

This article describes how to disable the Clipboard on a per-client basis.

Cause

In some scenarios, it is required to disable not only the Clipboard functionality on the server but also per client.

Resolution

Remove the Clipboard from the Module.ini file under the ICA 3.0 section.

The VDCLIP module is built into Wfica32.exe. Afew virtual channels like this are built directly into the main client engine rather than being separate.

Example:

[ICA 3.0]
DriverName = WDICA30.DDL
DriverNameWin16 = WDICA30W.DLL
DriverNameWin32 = WDICA30N.DLL
ProtocolSupport = Modem, RFrame, Frame, Reliable, Encrypt, Compress
VirtualDriver = Thinwire3.0, ClientDrive, ClientPrinterQueue, ClientPrinterPort, Clipboard, ClientComm, ClientAudio, ClientManagement, LicenseHandler, ProgramNeighborhood,TWI,ZL_FONT,ZLC,SmartCard,Multimedia,ICACTL,SpeechMike,SSPI
BufferLength = 2048
BufferLength2 = 5000
XmsReserve = 0
LowMemReserve = 51200
ConnectTTY = On
ConnectTTYDelay = 1000
Reducer = ICAREDU.DDL
ReducerWin16 = ICAREDUW.DLL
ReducerWin32 = ICAREDUN.DLL

Status

This affects all users from the workstation because the Module.ini is machine-specific.

Additional Information

To disable the Clipboard functionality on a per-server basis, open Citrix Connection Configuration. Under the properties for ICA-TCP, go to Client Settings > Disable Client Clipboard Mapping.
