Perform these steps to install MetaFrame XP 1.0 Feature Release 1 using Installation Manager:

These steps describe how to install Feature Release 1 on existing MetaFrame XP 1.0 for Windows servers using Installation Manager.

Compatibility Scripts
No compatibility script is required.

Compatibility Issues
CAUTION: Make sure no users log on to a target server while the installation is in progress. During installation, the state changes from User mode to Install mode. If the installation is disrupted, the state returns to User mode, which corrupts the installation process.

To install Feature Release 1:

Note: Make sure you have the proper domain rights.

• Locate the .wfs file in the IMsupport folder on the MetaFrame XP for Windows, Feature Release 1 CD-ROM disc.

• Copy the .wfs file and the Feature Release 1 CD-ROM contents to a network share.

• Edit the .wfs file to point to the correct install location by replacing the text ChangeToFullNetworkPathOf_imdeployfr1with the network share from Step 2. Update two lines near the end of the file (Lines 42 and 45).

• Add the .wfs file to Installation Manager in the console.

• Before you install Feature Release 1 to all of your target servers, make sure you install Feature Release 1 from the data store server in your farm to the same data store server.

Note: Make sure all users using the data store server save their work, as the data store server shuts down.

• Install MetaFrame XP for Windows, Feature Release 1 to the target servers from the data store server.
Important: To ensure successful installation from the data store server to your target servers, check each target server after installation by right-clicking the server under Servers in the console tree. Select Set Feature Release Level.If successful, the Set Feature Release Level window displays Feature Release 1.
