Symptom

After successfully creating a package with MSI and MST files for the installation of Visio 2002 with SR-1, the following error message appears when deploying the package using Installation Manager 2.0.

"Advertising Microsoft Visio on Terminal Server is not supported.”

There is an application log Event ID 10000 MSI installer, Product Microsoft Visio 2000 not supported for Advertising in terminal server.

For a list of all command line options and logging flags, see Microsoft Technet article Q227091. When MSI logging is enabled, the log file shows the following:

Action ended 9:45:59: ProgramFilesFolder.D0DF3458_A845_11D3_8D0A_0050046416B9. Return value 1.

Action start 9:45:59: LaunchConditions.

Advertising Microsoft Visio on Terminal Server is not supported.

Action ended 9:45:59: LaunchConditions. Return value 3.

Action ended 9:45:59: ADVERTISE. Return value 3.

Resolution

Use Orca.exe, found at http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/platformsdk/sdkupdate/, to open the MSI file.

Look for a property for advertising and set it to “override.”
