Error: The Citrix Installer Service requires MetaFrame XPe

The initial release of XPe allowed separate installation of XPe components. FR2 and later build in support in the add and remove programs reference to the XPe installation to "modify" the installation to add the components.

Install Installation Manager from the Feature Release 2 media

Error Message

"The Citrix Installer Service requires MetaFrame XPe, which cannot be found on this server. Click OK to modify your selection."

Resolution

This error is reproducible if you attempt to install Installation Manager from the original MetaFrame XP CD to a server that is freshly installed with MetaFrame XP, Feature Release 2. This is not supported. Follow the steps below to correctly install Installation Manager.

1. From the Start menu, select Settings and then Control Panel.

2. On the Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.

3. Highlight Installation Manager and select Change.

4. On the next dialog box, select Modify and install Installation Manager from the Feature Release 2 CD.
