Products: Citrix Server Test Kit

The Citrix Server Test Kit (CSTK) is an automated tool that can be used by administrators of Citrix servers to configure and run various user load combinations. This utility is free for download on the CDN Web site (www.citrix.com/cdn) and is supported (like all other Citrix products) for those who have a valid support agreement.

Introduction

The Citrix Server Test Kit (CSTK) is an automated tool that can be used by administrators of Citrix servers to
configure and run various user load combinations.

The CSTK allows a Citrix administrator to simulate various user loads by using application simulation scripts.
The scripts simulate various usages of typical software applications and run without any user interaction.

The advantages of the CSTK include:

• Multiple sessions can be connected from a single client machine.

• When the client sessions are connected, the entire test can be administered from the server console.

• Without the need for human testers, the CSTK allows the same tests to be run time and again in a
deterministic manner.

This provides consistent results with reproducible performance data.

This release of the CSTK supports US English only.

For more information about this CSTK, refer to the documentation that is installed with the CSTK. The
documentation is available as a printable Adobe Acrobat .pdf file. Adobe Acrobat can be downloaded for
free at www.Adobe.com.

System Requirements

To run the Citrix Server Test Kit, you need the following components:

• A Citrix server

• Client machines

• Applications used by the test scripts

Servers

The CSTK must be installed on one of the following Citrix platforms:

• MetaFrame 1.0 with Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Terminal Server Edition

• MetaFrame 1.8 with Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Terminal Server Edition

• WinFrame 1.7 with Service Pack 5B

• WinFrame 1.8

Clients

The number of required client machines depends on the number of users participating in a particular load test.
Each client machine must have the Citrix ICA Client installed.

NOTE: All versions of the ICA Client are supported.

Depending on the hardware and ICA Client type, one or more ICA sessions can be launched from a single
client machine. Assuming adequate CPU power, a single Win32 ICA Client connection typically requires 8MB
of RAM plus 5MB of RAM per client session.

Installing the CSTK

For installation instructions, see the documentation provided on the CSTK CD-ROM.
