Products: Installation Manager for MetaFrame XPe
Sometimes when using application publishing to distribute an Installation Management package, the package is not made available for load balancing until a user logs on to the console of the target machine.
This occurred with the following applications:
• SmartSuite 2000 - Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server
• Smart Suite 2000 - Windows 2000
• Visio 2000 - Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server
When the package is published, the target servers reboot (as expected) but application publishing is not notified that these applications are available.
If a user logs on to the console of the target machine, a registry flag is cleared and the application is made available for publishing.
Qfarm /app then shows the application listed against the server.
This applies only to ADF packages that are recorded with the Packager. MSI packages are not affected.
Another workaround is to use Installation Management to install the package, then use application publishing to publish the command line of the application.
