Problem Description:

When PCL printer drivers are mapped to non-PCL printer drivers via the Citrix Management Console on MetaFrame XP SP2/FR2, driver mapping *and* restrictions have been made as to what drivers are allowed to be used in the Driver Compatibility list. This is achieved by specifying "allow all drivers except those on the list" and adding PCL drivers to the exception list. The remapped non-PCL driver name is in the authorized list. Driver mapping fails and the printer fails to autocreate.

Cause:

Since the compatibility list, in FR2 and predecessors, is checked before mapping, the compatibility list needs to be composed of "client driver names" not "server driver names". If the compatibility list does not allow a certain client driver, then it will be excluded and never even considered for mapping. This is obviously not the most natural order If using both of these features simultaneously, it is necessary to make sure the driver compatibility includes all the client driver names that will be remapped.

Resolution:

The code has been reworked for MetaFrame XP SP3/FR3. The driver compatibility check will be applied after the client driver to server mapping has been applied (the more natural order).

Repro Steps:

1. Create a default printer of HP LaserJet 6P on a client machine .

2. On the server Citrix Management Console, in Printers, Driver Mapping, map an HP LaserJet 6P to an HP LaserJet 4 (Make sure the LaserJet 4 is on the servers driver list).

3. Under Citrix Management Console Printer Driver Compatibility, click "allow all drivers except those in the list" and add HP LaserJet 6P to the list.

4. Connect to the server indicated - no printer is autocreated, not even the HP LaserJet 4.
