The user receiving the error is attempting a connection to the Citrix Server desktop vie a published application and the option to use Run Only Published Applications has been selected.

MetaFrame: From Citrix or Terminal Server Connection Configuration, double-click Connection Name, then select Advanced.

Under Initial Program, remove the option for Only run Published Applications.

KNOWN ISSUES

• MetaFrame's shadow taskbar (Wshadow.exe) does not function properly if the Only Run Published Applications option is enabled at the ICA listener level. If you are experiencing this issue, ensure the latest MetaFrame Service Pack or Hotfix containing wsxica.dll is applied.

• If the password changed or expired during an ICA session and the server was configured with Only Run Published Applications, the following error message appeared: "The System could not log you on 52E." Apply Hotfix ME183T006 or its equivalent.

• Shadowing from the Citrix Management Console fails when the server is set to Only Run Published Applications. The following error message appears: "The system cannot log you on (52e). Please try again or consult your system administrator." Apply Hotfix XE101W009 or its equivalent.

• Alert Shadowing Fails in the Web Console When Only Run Published Applications Is Checked in Citrix Connection Configuration.

1. Open Citrix Connection Configuration on the MetaFrame XP server.

2. Double-click the TCP-ICA listener port.

3. From the Edit dialog box, click Advance and select the option Only Run Published Applications.

4. Connect to your Web console Web site and click the Session tab. You are presented with a list of users to shadow.

5. Place a check mark by the user whose session you want to shadow.

6. Click the Shadow tab to begin the shadow process.

7. Enter your user credientals to start the ICA session.

8. Click OK. You will be presented with the following error message: "The system cannot logon you on (52e). Please try again or consult your system administrator."

To resolve this issue, remove the option to run published applications in Citrix Connection Configuration.
