CTX101487 - Default Icon is Incorrect When using PNAgent and Client-to-server Content Redirection

Document ID: CTX101487, Created on: Feb 25, 2003, Updated: Apr 23, 2003

Products: Citrix MetaFrame XP 1.0 for Microsoft Windows 2000, ICA Win32 Program Neighborhood Agent

Problem Description:

The incorrect Icon, viewed in Explorer, appears for a file on the local XP Workstation, when the PNAgent v1051 client and Content Redirection is enabled for the said file.

Users may see the PNAgent Icon and some applications may show another applications Icon, for Example Word. (see reproduction steps below).

Resolution:

This issue is resolved by upgrading to the latest version of the PNA client, version 7.0 that ships with MetaFrame XP FR3/SP3.

Reproduction Steps:

This issue was reproduced on an XP workstation with or without SP1 and the 1051 PNAgent client.

1. Logon as an Administrative user, install PNAgent 1051, AND do not enter the PNAgent credentials when prompted. Choose cancel.

2. Copy a Word Document file to the client workstation.

3. Create a User class user. Logon to the workstation as that user.

4. PNAgent will prompt for the credentials. Enter them and the applications published on the MetaFrame XP FR2 server, no hotfixes, will populate the client.

5. Open Explorer. The Word Document will have a Word Pad Icon instead of the Word Icon.

6. Looking at the list of Published apps using the PNAgent for this user, Word is listed.

7. Looking in the Workstation Registry under HKCR/WORD.DOCUMENT.8, only the Shell Subdirectory is listed.

8. The user DOES have Full control of this key and Sub keys, but the DefaultIcon Directory is NOT created.

9. Right-clicking on the Word Document and selecting “Open With” gives the option of launching it with PNAgent.

10. Double-clicking on the Word Document opens Word from the MetaFrame XP FR2 Server and pulls the local Word Document.

11. Logon with the Administrator account to the Workstation. This causes the Default Icon Key to get Created in the Registry. Looking at the Local Word Document, via Explorer, as either the Administrator or the User, shows the correct Word Icon.
