CTX101656 - Disabling Time Zones on a Per Server basis

Products: Citrix MetaFrame XP 1.0 for Microsoft Windows 2000, Citrix MetaFrame XP 1.0 for Microsoft NT 4.0 Server Terminal Server Edition, Citrix MetaFrame XP 1.0 for Microsoft Windows 2003

Symptoms

Is there a suggested way of disabling client time zone estimation for a single server in a farm?

Cause

There are farm property settings for this, but no visible way to do it on a per-server basis. Segregating servers into their own Farm(s) is often not a viable option.

Resolutions

WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious, system-wide problems that may require you to reinstall Windows NT to correct them. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use this tool at your own risk.

1. On the server requiring Time Zone to be disabled, backup and delete the following registry value:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Citrix\wfshell\Per Session Time Zone.

*Once complete the Independent Management Architecture Service must be restarted. Test with a brand new session that is currently not connected or in a disconnected state.

-OR-

2. On the server requiring Time Zones to be disabled, change the Settings registry value to zero (0).

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix\CtxHook\AppInit_DLLs\Per Session Time Zone

Value: Settings:REG_DWORD:0x1 ---> Change to 0

Note: This solution only works until IMA is restarted. Once IMA is restarted, manually or from a reboot, this setting will change back to 1. It may be possible to write a script, for example regini.exe, to manage this registry setting.
