Products: ICA Client for Linux

Note: This article assumes you are using Linux on an x86 platform.

Download the latest .tar compressed archive from www.citrix.com/download in the UNIX and then Linux section.

Do the following as root:

1. Copy the file to a temporary directory on your Linux server and change to that directory.

2. Run the following command: tar zxvf linuxx86.tar.gz. This uncompresses and untars the archive.

3. Run the following command to start the install script: ./setupwfc.

You are prompted to install or remove the Citrix ICA Client or quit the installation.

4. Choose option 1 to install the client. Citrix recommends that you use the defaults for installing. If you install the client in a different directory, you must set an environment variable (ICAROOT) after installation to point to the directory where you installed the client.

5. The End User License Agreement (EULA) appears. Use the up and down arrow keys to page through the agreement.

6. You are prompted to either agree or disagree to the EULA. Press n to abort the installation; press y to finish the installation.

The installation detects if Netscape is installed and installs the necessary plug-ins for Netscape. You may have to manually activate these in the Netscape Preferences dialog box (see below).

You are returned to the Setup menu. Choose 3 to quit.

Configuring Netscape 4.7x (These steps apply only to Netscape 4.7x; they will not work with 6.x.)

1. Start the Netscape browser.

2. Go to Edit, Preferences.

3. Select Navigator, then Applications.

4. Scroll through the list until you see Citrix ICA Client.

5. If the Handled By column is greyed out or blank, do the following:

• Select the Citrix ICA Client.

• Click Edit.

• Select the Plug-In option. The Citrix ICA Client will appear in the pull-down menu.
