Title
SQL server sizing impact of using Web Interface Extension / NFuse Enterprise
Additional Information
The following information applies to Web Interface Version 2.0 and all versions of NFuse Enterprise:
What will the SQL database size be at a minimum with no configured users?
The biggest segment of data in the Web Interface/NFuse Enterprise database is actually the list of applications published by the MetaFrame farms. All the information that is configured in the Management Console is stored in the database together with an expanded and flattened table of users and group membership relationships.
For example, a database for a Web Interface/NFuse Enterprise installation with one farm and 11 applications in it consumes 3.3MB of space with 500 users in the MetaFrame domain. However, not all of these user accounts had used the Web Interface site.
How quickly will the database grow and to what extent as the user data is added?
As each user is added from the domain in which the Web Interface/NFuse Enterprise server is a member, minimal additional data is added. This includes the user name, domain name, and the references to the MetaFrame users with an encrypted password, if necessary.
However, when adding a farm from another domain, the entire list of users and group memberships from the secondary domain gets added to the database. Even users who are not logged on to Web Interface/NFuse Enterprise yet are represented in the database, with the password field set to
For example, a Web Interface server installed in a very small primary domain (approximately 10 users, 6 applications) was augmented to include a new farm from a larger domain with over 1500 user accounts. The database size is now approximately 30MB, even though only one user from the larger domain ever logged on. The ss_user table contains a list of all the accounts from that other domain.
