When selecting the menu option Set Default Database actions will be governed by the current path of the current database in focus on the main Update configuration screen. If this path, which by default is set to the %systemroot%ICACLIENTDB, is set to a static path rather then a UNC path the above error will occur.
To resolve this issue ensure that the current ICA client Update configuration is pointing to a UNC path. (IE. serverclientDB)
The following are steps to allow centralized administration from a share point of the Citrix ICA Client Update Configuration database files:
1. From the target file server add a share point for the Citrix ICA client database files. Consider using the default location of the ClientDB directory on a MetaFrame server and share this directory.
2. If this is a new directory then create the Database files using the Citrix ICA client update configuration utility.
3. Once the directory is populated with the Citrix ICA client database files select the database|open menu option.
4. For the file name entry either specify the UNC path or navigate to the share using the network neighborhood tree.
5. Once this is complete the title for the ICA Client Update Configuration utility should reflect this new UNC path.
6. With this in place select database|set default menu option and set any server to refer to this new share point.
When the ICA Client Update Configuration utility is set to the proper share point the Access Denied error will not occur and centralized administration of the ICA client database files is possible.
