to install Office 2000 Disk 1 on Windows NT 4.0, Terminal Server Edition and/or Windows 2000, follow these steps:
< P>Note: If installing on Windows NT 4.0, Terminal Server Edition, Service Pack 4 or above for Windows Terminal Server is required. For more information on installing Office 2000 on Windows Terminal Server please review Microsoft support documents Q210231, Q262584, Q224313.

1. Install the Office 2000 Resource Kit.

2. After installing the Office 2000 Resource Kit, go to Start, Programs, Microsoft Office Tools, Microsoft Office Resource Kit Tools, Custom Installation wizard.

3. From Custom Installation Wizard (Page 1), click Next.

4. "Open the MSI File" is on Page 2. Type the name and path of the MSI file to open. Browse for and select Data1.msi from the Office 2000 Disk 1; click Next.

5. "Open the MST File" is on Page 3. Select Open an Existing MST File. Browse for Program Files\ORKTools\Toolbox\Tools\Terminal Server Tools and select the Termsrvr.mst file.

6. "Select the MST File to Save" is on Page 4. Click Next.

7. You will be prompted with:

"The MST file you specified already exists. Do you want to overwrite it?"

Click Yes.

NOTE: From Page 4 to 17, you will have the option to select Finish. Selecting Finish gives you all the default setup options. If you select Finish from any of these pages, skip to Step 21.

8. "Specify Default Path and Organization" (Page 5), prompts you to fill in the default installation path and the name of your organization.

9. "Remove Previous Versions" (Page 6), gives you the option to select Default Setup behavior (which removes all previous versions of Microsoft Office applications) or Remove the following versions of Microsft Office applications (which allows you to choose which previous Microsoft Office applications you want to remove).

10. "Set Feature Installation States" (Page 7) gives you the option to modify the installation states.

11. "Customize Default Application Settings" (Page 8) allows you to use the Microsoft default values or to use values from an existing profile.

12. "Add Files to the Installation" (Page 9) allows you to add additional files to your installation.

13. With "Add Registry Entries" (Page 10) you can add or import additional registry entries.

14. "Add, Modify, or Remove Shortcuts" (Page 11) permits you to add, modify, or remove any shortcuts you have.

15."Identify Additional Servers" (Page 12) gives you the option to identify additional servers from which users can install Microsoft Office applications.

16. On "Add Installations and Run Programs" (Page 13), you can add, modify, or remove additional product installations and run programs.

17. From "Customize Outlook Installation Options" (Page 14) you can modify your Outlook installation.

18. On the "Customize IE 5 Installation Options" page (Page 15), you can choose to upgrade to Internet Explorer 5. You can also choose not to install Internet Explorer.

19. "Modify setup Properties" in on Page 16. You can add, modify,or remove setup properties to be used during the installation of Office 2000 Disk 1.

20. On "Save Changes" (Page 17), select Finish to save your changes, or select the down arrow beside 17 of 17 to modify your setup of Office 2000 Disk 1.

21. If you selected Finish from any page or completed the wizard, the following dialog box appears.

22. Copy the setup executable displayed (setup.exe TRANSFORMS="C:\Program Files\ORKTools\Toolbox\Tools\Terminal Server Tools\termsrvr.mst" /qn+) and click Exit.

NOTE: The "/qn+" at the end of the executable installs Office 2000 Disk 1 quietly. To see the progress of your Office 2000 Disk 1 installation, remove the "/qn+" from the end of the new setup executable displayed.

23. To install Office 2000 Disk 1, go to Add/Remove Programs and select setup.exe for Office 2000 Disk 1.

24. Replace the (setup.exe) portion with (Setup.exe TRANSFORMS="C:\Program Files\ORKTools\Toolbox\Tools\Terminal Server Tools\termsrvr.mst" /qn+") and install Office 2000 Disk 1.

25. Office 2000 Disk 1 will now be installed.
