Products: Citrix Presentation Server 4.0 for Microsoft Windows 2003
Summary
This document describes how to install Skype in a Presentation Server 4.0 environment.
Requirements
These tests were conducted with the following:
• Presentation Server 4.0 Enterprise Edition
• PSE400W2K3R01
• Windows 2003 with Service Pack 1
• Skype 2.0.0.69 (http://www.skype.com)
• Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 2
• Citrix ICA Client Program Neighborhood 9.150
Procedure
Note: This information is provided “as is” and it is strongly recommended that you test these steps in a test environment.
The steps to complete the task:
1. Create an Application Isolation Environment (AIE) on the Presentation Server and install Skype into this AIE.
2. Define a Citrix policy and enable the use of the client microphone for audio input and set the sound quality to High.
3. Assign this policy to the user group who will be granted access to the application.
4. Publish Skype which was installed in the AIE.
5. Go to the Virtual IP Processes properties and add skype.exe to the list of processes to be monitored under the Virtual Loopback Processes.
Note: If you don’t add the skype.exe to the loopback processes, your call will fail after a few seconds as Skype will fail to detect your microphone and your will receive an error similar to the one below:
