Symptoms

When installing Citrix Presentation Server 4.0 on a Windows 2003 server, the installation process fails with the following error message:

“Error 10001: Installation of MetaFrame Presentation Server failed. Do you want to continue with the installation of the next component?”

This is the same error message that is seen in CTX106838 – Error 10001 When Installing Citrix Presentation Server 4.0, but User Interface pack is not installed.

The MSI log generated shows the following information:

Update Windows Installer with Version 3.1.
