Symptoms
Enhanced logon feedback is not shown when logging into an ICA session.
Cause
Either the CtxGina is not being added as part of the Graphical Identification and Authentication (GINA) chain, or it has been disabled either in the registry or by a Citrix Presentation Server setting.
If the CtxGina is not part of the GINA chain, or is not functioning properly, enhanced logon feedback is not shown during logon.
Resolution 1
1. Open the Citrix Connection Configuration Tool.
2. Open the ica-tcp connection type and click the Advanced button.
3. Make sure the “Use default NT Authentication” check box is cleared.
Resolution 2
Caution! This fix requires you to edit the registry. Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Citrix cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. Be sure to back up the registry before you edit it.
1. Go to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Make sure GinaDLL points to CtxGina.dll
2. Go to the C:\Windows\system32 directory and check if ctxgina.dll exists. Also check the security settings on the file.
3. Open the Citrix Connection Configuration Tool and open the ica-tcp connection. Click the Advanced button and under Security, make sure the “Use default NT Authentication” check box is cleared.
4. Go to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\ICA-tcp
Make sure fUseDefaultGina is set to the value 0 (1 disables the CtxGina).
