Summary
This article describes how to integrate XenServer redundantly into a XenDesktop 3.0 infrastructure.
Background
XenDesktop allows integrating hypervisors like XenServer, Hyper-V, or ESX into a virtual desktop infrastructure for advanced management of the virtual machines (such as: start, stop, suspend, and so on). For an integration of XenServer in particular, this means specifying the Resource Pool master and valid user credentials within the Create Desktop Group dialog of the XenDesktop Access Management Console snap-in.
In case of an outage of the specified server, the desktop group cannot be administered nor is any automatic boot, reboot, or shutdown task successful, until the server is back online.
Procedure
The steps to complete the task:
1. Within the Create desktop Group dialog select Citrix Xen VM infrastructure (included with XenDesktop).
2. Click Options.
3. Specify a list of XenServers, which will be contacted in case of an outage of the Resource Pool Master, separated by semicolons as show in the screen shot below.
